Matchmakers Walk of Shame

June 19, 2009
Year of the Matchmaker

It was a matchmaker’s dream Friday night in the Hamptons, raining cats and dogs…wish it was raining men…but anyway...

Walking into one of the hottest restaurants  in the HamptonsTRATA, I was pleasantly surprised by an incredibly good looking man standing outside the place  with his arms folded, and the sexiest expression on his face… I was immediately drawn to him! Perfect for my matchmaking service.

“Why do you look like you’re leaving so early? No luck picking up the ladies?!” I said obnoxiously.

Laughing at my approach, He responded with “No, we’re probably going to head to Savannahs- pick up some girls there!” he said smirking to his friend.

“Ha-ha, of course you are! So where’s you’re house in the Hamptons?”

“I’m staying with a friend in South Hampton”…he said sneakily.

Guys night out… I see” This was all too familiar, where did I know this guy from?

“Why do I think I’ve seen you before? He asked me before I could approach him with the same question.

“That’s easy- you’ve probably seen me in the media, my occupation revolves around that!” I said. ( Afterall  I am America’s top matchmaker)

“So what publication is yours?” he asked.

“No, I don’t work with a publication, I’m just written up a lot on what I do!”

“On what you do?” ...Oh wait a minute, does you’re name begin with a “J”?

Simultaneously, as he came to the realization of who I was, I knew EXACTLY who I was talking to!

“I knew who you were!” Eric from Aspen! we met in March! I was there on business, and yet again you were off on a guy’s weekend getaway!” I said.

(If you haven’t realized by now, this is the SAME married guy who was hitting on every woman he came across during our week there!)

“Small world…and look at you- you are still BEYOND handsome but seriously  disgusting! Still up to the same tricks! What are you doing here? And where are  the wife and kids?” I yelled.

“Why? What’s the problem?”, he laughed.

Typical answer from a cheater…I thought.

“Why don’t you get back to your wife and kids?!” I said.  And at the point, I immediately texted my assistant, Ashley- I knew she would get a kick out of this! (Of course letting him know I was blowing up his spot).

Eric walked away embarrassed and ashamed, (as he should be), although this time his walk of shame was not from a “successful” hookup the night before….hopefully lesson learned!
